The cold-dyeing system allows great scope for dye application. It may be applied to fibre, yarn or fabric, either greasy or scoured, by various methods, including hand painting with a brush, dip-dying, tie-dying, ikat, printing techniques and warp painting on the loom. To enable the dyes to react and fix to the fibre, all that is required is to wrap the dyed material in plastic and leave for 12 - 24 hours at room temperature. The goods are washed off after fixation.
The dyes can be mixed to create many shades. Pastel shades can be produced by adding a small amount of dye solution to the clear solution. For bright shades use the standard dye solutions or, if greater depth of colour is required, additional dyestuff may be purchased and mixed with the standard dye solutions.
